Looney Tunes movie

I've had the opportunity lately to catch up on my Looney Tunes.  As you may or may not know, I have a ten-month-old boy who likes to wake up at the ass-crack of dawn.  He's only 10 mos. but he loves cartoons.  I can't sit through nonsense like "Rugrats" or whatever kids watch these days, so I put on the classics.   The Cartoon Network has a big block of Looney Tunes on Saturday and Sunday morning.   I hope I'm grooming him on quality cartoons like these so he realizes shit when he sees it.  The point of this being, every once in a while, they'll show one of those newly produced 90s Looney Tunes shorts.  And they suck.  Over-animated, under-written pieces of garbage.  Don't even get me started on the voices which can't hold a candle to the genius of Mel Blanc.  The rely on the same old bits made famous in the original shorts and nothing works.  SPACE JAM was horrible, let's face it.   The magic is gone.

But Warners has decided that the time has come to again try an squeeze an egg from their golden goose.  They got director Joe Dante (GREMLINS) and star Brendan Fraser for their next attempt at a live-action/animation Looney Tunes adventure, this time titled BACK IN ACTION.  The WB has also given the go-head to produce new animated Looney Tunes shorts to run before Warners films like HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS.  This is how the film is described:  "the animated Looney Tunes characters, which include Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Taz and Tweety, move through a live-action world that takes them from Hollywood to Las Vegas and into Africa in search of the Fraser character's missing father and the mythical Blue Diamond."  UGH.   The worst part is that they drag the legend of Chuck Jones down in this mess saying the films will be produced and animated in the tradition of his work.  Please.   In a million years you couldn't replicate that kind of work.  I wish for the best, but I fear for the worst.  To cheer myself up I need another pic of Charlize...
