Luke Cage and Iron Fist unite in new image from Luke Cage season two

After breaking the internet during his first season and then teaming up with Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist for THE DEFENDERS last year, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) is ready to come back with an iron fist of his own. He's indestructible and can throw one helluva punch, and probably doesn’t need a superhero team in order to restore justice to Harlem. Still, it helps to have friends, and his new buddy Iron Fist/Danny Rand (Finn Jones) is by his side in a new image from season two.

The image comes via Pilot TV (the new TV magazine from the folks behind Empire) and shows Cage and Rand in what looks like fight mode, perhaps ready to take on some thugs. Having returning allies like Misty Knight (Simone Messick) and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) may be nice, but sometimes a master of kung-fu is required.

Now, Rand doesn’t have a massive role in the new show but obviously makes an appearance or two. According to a tease from showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker, Danny “helps Luke channel his chi.” Maybe Luke is trying to find some peace and balance in his life, and Danny probably knows a thing or two about meditation.

The first season of LUKE CAGE was a massive hit for Netflix with stunning viewer numbers, and perhaps the second season can do it again. The first season was fine, even if it started to drag halfway through. The dynamic between Luke and Danny in DEFENDERS was entertaining enough to make me want to see more of them together, and clearly, Marvel agreed.
