Macaulay Culkin took AHS role based on “erotic sex” pitch with Kathy Bates

It probably doesn't take much to convince actors to want to work with Ryan Murphy. The television mega-producer has given us such TV hits as American Horror Story, Glee, Pose, American Crime Story & more so his pedigree alone means you'll be in pretty good company. HOME ALONE star Macaulay Culkin has joined the cast for season 10 of American Horror Story and apparently convincing the actor all came down to "crazy, erotic sex" with AHS star, Kathy Bates

During an interview with "E! News", while promoting his new Netflix series Hollywood, Murphy revealed how Culkin became a part of the AHS family. Murphy was a fan of the actor and that determined why he approached him for a role but it was Murphy's pitch on his character's sex scene with that Kathy Bates that got Culkin interested:

"When I cast, I never let people read things, usually. I said, 'OK, here's the pitch.' And I told him the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, 'This sounds like the role I was born to play.' So, he signed up right then and there."

What else do you need really if you're Macaulay Culkin? It sounds like the role of a lifetime! In all seriousness, Murphy went on to say that he plans on working with Culkin on more projects if he’s interested because he finds the actor fascinating. Murphy has been known to resurrect careers for a newer generation through his projects. American Horror Story gave Jessica Lange a huge career resurgence and while accomplished actress Kathy Bates didn't really need a resurgence, joining AHS during season 3 definitely introduced her to a new audience. The actress has gone on to appear in nine seasons of the anthology series and since Murphy is known to be very loyal to the people that work with him, I'm sure Culkin is set to be employed by the producer if he's interested in other projects.

Murphy revealed the scripts are ready for season 10 and he hopes to begin production soon once they're allowed to in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The showrunner may be forced to change the setting for season 10 since it had to be shot in specific weather, which won’t be possible now due to the coronavirus shutdowns that delayed many productions across the industry.

Are YOU looking forward to AHS season 10? What do YOU think the theme will be?
