Marco Polo writer to pen feature adaptation of Pax children’s book

MARCO POLO and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGONL SWORD OF DESTINY writer John Fusco has been tapped by Sidney Kimmel Entertainment to pen the adaptation of the popular children's book PAX after winning a bidding war for the property last year.

PAX, a No. 1 New York Times best-selling family-friendly book written by author Sara Pennypacker, shares a story about love and defining your family is about a boy who is separated from his pet fox and how they try to find each other again during the devastation of war. Deadline Hollywood announced the news earlier today, in addition to sharing the knowledge that Pennypacker was inspired to craft the tale by reports of children injured, displaced and orphaned by wars. PAX, which is latin for the word "peace," chronicles the horros and devastation of war on children through the innocent eyes of a young boy and his pet fox. The film will be presented to audiences in a live-action format.

While it will be some time before the film is released, something tells me that theater-goers are going to want to secure of wad of Kleenex tissues for when this emotionally-charged movie hits theaters.
