Margot Robbie in negotiations for Sharon Tate role in Tarantino's next film

At long last, Deadline is exclusively reporting that Quentin Tarantino has indeed met with Margot Robbie with the interest of her taking on the role of Sharon Tate for ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, the legendary yet controversial director's ninth film project.

Should Robbie accept the studio's offer, she'll be joining Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio for the upcoming film centering around the Summer of '69, a time when Charles Manson was gathering members of his death-dealing family. Recently, Robbie was nominated for an Oscar thanks to her performance in the Craig Gillespie-directed biographical film I, TONYA.

Here's the official synopsis for the film:

In the emerging "New Hollywood" era of the late sixties in Los Angeles, the film follows former Western TV star Rick Dalton and his stunt double best friend Cliff Booth as they struggle to navigate through a Hollywood they no longer know. Dalton lives next door to American actress Sharon Tate, who falls victim to the murderous Manson Family cult in the summer of 1969.
