Marvel’s first cover for the Star Wars: Journey to The Force Awakens comic

Marvel has just unveiled the first cover for their STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS prequel series which is entitled "Star Wars: Journey to The Force Awakens – Shattered Empire" and it shows us…absolutely nothing; but it's Star Wars so we're bringing it right to you!

The talented Phil Noto created the cover for this new Marvel Comics series which will serve as a bridge between the events of STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI and STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. It's set to be released this September.

Given that the cover shows the final moments from RETURN OF THE JEDI would we be correct in guessing that the series will pick up right after the events of that film? You all know what that means don't you? We're getting more Ewoks. It's unlikely that we'll get any real glimpses of what's to come as I doubt J.J. Abrams would want anything particularly juicy revealed before the premiere of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS.

The series will actually be one of two which chronicle the events leading up to Episode VII, but all we know about the other series is that it will be told from the perspective of C-3PO. With all the various books that have been announced leading up to the December 18, 2015 release of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS I really hope we don't all get burnt out on Star Wars before what we're actually excited about arrives. Yea, that won't happen.
