Following in the hallowed footsteps of Justin Guarini, Katherine McPhee is looking to become the next “American Idol” runner-up to make a splash in Hollywood. The singer has signed on to star in THE LAST CALLER, which is being described as a dark romantic comedy. Basically it’s just about a girl who finds “love and hope” all while looking very pretty. The film was written by Michael Albanese who’s making his writing debut on the project (previous credits include a stand-in on COPLAND and “Creep on Subway” in THE LAST DAYS OF DISCO). McPhee says she’s been offered all kinds of roles in mainstream studio films but she’s been turning them down. She then added, “I also have this beautiful bridge I’m selling in Brooklyn, if you’re interested.” CALLER, which won’t make use of McPhee’s 2nd place voice, is expected to begin shooting this fall in New York.
