Megan Fox joins Jon Hamm and Kristen Wiig in Kids comedy

Some might say that Megan Fox’s career is in jeopardy after both JENNIFER’S BODY and JONAH HEX bombed badly (and her indie drama with Mickey Rourke, PASSION PLAY, was met with horrible reviews out of the Toronto Film Fest). So for her next film, she’s decided to take the backseat and play a supporting role. Fox has signed on to star in FRIENDS WITH KIDS, a comedy that has Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott and Jennifer Westfeldt.

In the film, which Westfeldt will also direct from a script she wrote, a couple (Westfeldt and Scott) observe all the stress children bring to their friends (Hamm and Wiig). So they decide to have a baby but still keep an open relationship and see other people. Fox would play a beautiful woman Scott’s character begins to date and sparks jealousy within the relationship. Anne Hathaway had earlier been rumored for the role but that deal never materialized.

The project is currently set up independently but with the cast and producers (Mike Nichols and Jake Kasdan are producing the film), it shouldn’t take long before a studio snatches it up. Filming is set to begin later this month on the film, which is trying to make an April release date.
