Michael Moore to present Trump documentary entitled Fahrenheit 11/9

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Love him or hate him, Michael Moore is once again teaming up with Bob and Harvey Weinstein to present FAHRENHEIT 11/9, a Trump-centric documentary to be presented under the Weinstein's Fellowship Adventure Group label. The "11/9" portion of the title is obviously a play on the day that Trump was declared President of the United States on November 9, 2016. I get it, though I wish Moore had been a bit more creative when it came to the naming of this project.

Nevertheless, Moore has reunited with his FAHRENHEIT 9/11 documentary directors/producers Meghan O’Hara, Tia Lessin, and Carl Deal for the making of this film. Moore has reportedly been collecting footage for the documentary under scrupulous cloak-and-dagger-like conditions, with the purpose of the film dissolving Trump's "teflon" shield and his presidency.

In commenting on Trump and his leadership of the nation thus far, Moore said, “No matter what you throw at him, it hasn’t worked. No matter what is revealed, he remains standing. Facts, reality, brains cannot defeat him. Even when he commits a self-inflicted wound, he gets up the next morning and keeps going and tweeting. That all ends with this movie."

Mmm, these are indeed some bold claims from a man who, in the past, has made it his personal mission to stir the political pot when presenting such films as BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE, SICKO, and CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY. While I'm not prepared to give my personal opinion of Moore here in this article, I do commend him for using his connections and creativity to share his thoughts with the masses, regardless of what his beliefs and motivations might be. After all, that's part of what being a filmmaker living in America is all about, no?

Additionally, the Weinsteins also lent their collective voices to the hype for this project by stating, “There is no greater part of what we can do right now than to have the power to bring Michael Moore to a mass audience. When we had the opportunity to work with him on ‘Fahrenheit 9/11,’ we were so persistent that we ultimately had to part ways from Disney and we lost our beloved Miramax, named after our parents, because we believed so strongly in the message. The movie broke all records then, and we plan to do so again. This movie will have one of the most innovative distribution plans ever. Now more than ever, Michael’s appetite for the truth is crucial. We are ecstatic to be a part of this revolution.”

While no release date has been set for Moore's FAHRENHEIT 11/9, I'm sure that he'll want to get this film out to the public as soon as humanly possible, considering both its subject matter as well as his motivation to see Trump booted from his position as the leader of the free world. Stay tuned for details as they happen.
