Mother’s Day gets Mom

After a long search, director Darren Bousman has announced who will be playing the evil matriarch in MOTHER’S DAY and it’s an actress who’s no stranger to crazy women. Rebecca De Mornay, who creeped every the eff out in THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE, has signed on to play Mother, a woman who will “go to any length to protect her children.” Though the original was a B-movie horror flick along the lines of THE LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, Bousman’s remake is expected to skew a little more towards the psychological thriller genre. Said Bousman of the casting the character, “She is not some Freddy Krueger or Jason, so it was important for me to get a real actress.”

De Mornay joins the previously cast Jaime King, Shawn Ashmore, Briana Evigan, Alexa Vega, Matt O’Leary and Deborah Ann Woll in the film. Filming on MOTHER’S DAY begins later this month in Winnipeg. For more on Rebecca De Mornay, you can check out this ScreenCap column at Movie Hotties. HAWT.
