Mike Flanagan is building quite the little horror empire for himself on Netflix, and Deadline has reported that the streaming service has ordered a new horror series from Flanagan and Trevor Macy, the pair behind The Haunting of Hill House.

Titled Midnight Mass, the new seven-episode series follows "an isolated island community that experiences miraculous events — and frightening omens — after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest." Flanagan will direct as well as serve as executive producer alongside Macy. Based on Mike Flanagan's work on The Haunting of Hill House and GERALD'S GAME, I'm sure Midnight Mass will be another success in his Netflix catalog.

Speaking of The Haunting of Hill House, that series will be back for a second season, but as Flanagan didn't feel the need to revisit the story of the Crain family, the new season will transform the show into an anthology series. Now titled The Haunting of Bly Manor, the new season will be based on "The Turn of the Screw" by Henry James and feature a new story with all-new characters. It was announced several days ago that Victoria Pedretti, who played Eleanor Crain in the first season, will take on the leading role in The Haunting of Bly Manor. Pedretti will play Dani, a governess who is looking after two unique children in an old country mansion. The Haunting of Bly Manor will debut on Netflix in 2020. Flanagan is also heading back to the big-screen with DOCTOR SLEEP, an adaptation of the Stephen King novel which follows a now adult Danny Torrance who is still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook Hotel. DOCTOR SLEEP will hit theaters on November 8, 2019.
