Netflix picks up the animated feature The Little Prince from Paramount

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

You may remember seeing trailers for the absolutely AMAZING-looking LITTLE PRINCE last year. The story, following the 1943 novel by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, follows a pilot stranded in the desert who meets a young prince fallen to Earth from a tiny asteroid. Paramount Pictures was set to release the film theatrically on March 18th, but then pulled the film from its release schedule. We can only speculate as to why, but it looks like Netflix is stepping up to make sure audiences can see this thing.

The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Netflix has scooped up the rights, and while there hasn’t been a release date set, we can probably expect to be watching THE LITTLE PRINCE later this year. As with BEASTS OF NO NATION, there may also be a limited theatrical release in the cards. With the film grossing over $100 million internationally already, it would be a shame if audiences couldn’t catch this stateside on the silver screen. Along with the amazing visual aesthetics, this film also has a top-notch voice cast featuring Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, Paul Rudd, Marion Cotillard, James Franco and Benicio del Toro, so you’d think there’d be no problem marketing this picture. In any case, we’ll just have to wait and see what Netflix has planned.

THE LITTLE PRINCE will most likely hit Netflix later this year.
