BEAUTIFUL BOY tells the story of a father trying to save his son from a life of substance abuse, and at the center of it are two powerhouse performances from Steve Carell and Timothée Chalamet. The two received raves when the movie screened at TIFF, with Chalamet in particular considered an odds-on favorite for an Oscar nomination. The new trailer for the movie further showcases their powerful work by putting them front and center of this minefield of emotion. For real, this thing is going to be heavy.

The movie screened at TIFF where the movie itself received solid marks, but the main takeaway seems to be that the two actors lift the movie up beyond its other faults. Watching the two work seems to be the main reason to check this thing out, as you can't miss what is shaping up to be two of the most unmissable performances of the year. Amazon will likely push the movie during awards season, with Chalamet being pushed in the Best Supporting Actor category. He already has the clout after a nomination for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME last year, and given the supporting field is a bit thin at the moment, this could be the young actor’s year.
