New clip and featurette from The Amazing Spider-man 2 focus on Electro

With all of the focus on the secondary villains and spin-offs announced, it is easy to forget that Jamie Foxx is the real nemesis in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. Hell, internationally the movie is even subtitled RISE OF ELECTRO. But, we have been more concerned about the rise of the Sinister Six and what the Green Goblin looks like to pay much attention to the Mr. Freeze look-a-like.

Thanks to this new featurette courtesy of MTV, we have the most in-depth look at Electro to date. Jamie Foxx himself sheds some light on the character, including his obsession with Spider-man, his accidental origin, and how powerful he really is.

Now, I can say that I was definitely not a fan of the revised origin of Electro to include eels, but it seems that the animal villain theme is becoming important to the Oscorp creation of these heroes and villains. So far we have enemies based on a lizard, a rhino, eels, and hints of vulture and octopus. That may give us some insight into what other villains may be in the works and makes me wonder what animal will inspire the Goblin.

We also have a new clip featuring Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) releasing Electro. This looks like it may be a key scene in the film as Harry’s face is starting to change a bit. DeHaan looks like he may rival James Franco with his portrayal of the younger Osborn. And, I hate to say it, I am starting to like Jamie Foxx‘s Electro performance more and more. They truly didn’t try and make him your typical bad guy but rather an obsessed fan and something of a scorned lover.
