New HBO series The Young Pope starring Jude Law releases new trailer

More than a little disappointed that YOUNG POPE isn't about a teenage Pope with sunglasses, a backwards hat, and EXXXTREME views on Catholic dogma, but damn, this looks good! Then again, it is HBO, home of GAME OF THRONES, SOPRANOS, and...VINYL? JOHN FROM CINCINATTI? Okay, maybe they're not all home runs, but their track record is still good nonetheless.

YOUNG POPE stars Jude Law as the fictional Lenny Belardo, the youngest and first American Pope in history. Here's the trailer for the new series:

Man, this just looks balls-to-the-wall crazy. An egotistical and megalomaniacal Pope who smokes and thinks he's God? Conspiracies? Killing? F*cking (I mean, probably?) This all seems really cool, especially with its unique setting within the Vatican. Let's just hope the conspiracies aren't in the f*cking Dan Brown variety.

So what do you guys think? Yay or nay? And do you think my pitch for TEENAGE POPE has legs?

YOUNG POPE also stars James Cromwell and Diane Keaton. The series premieres on HBO in February 2017.

Extra Tidbit: According to Wikipedia, the probable youngest popes are Pope Benedict IX (who became pope at an unknown age between 11 and 20) and Pope John XII (who was 18 at the beginning of his papacy).
