New spot and featurette for John Carter spotlight action and characters

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Just a month away, JOHN CARTER is kicking off it’s last marketing hurrah to get your ass in a theater seat. I’m already a guarantee, but many are on the fence or simply steering clear. The most common complaint seems to be “CGI shitfest,” which doesn’t register for me. I mean…it takes place on Mars…with spaceships…and aliens…lots of otherworldly shit. You’re gonna have CGI. You also have a director (Andrew Stanton) who has handled that kind of material deftly before (WALL*E).

Anyway, here’s a pretty bad ass spot, courtesy of Coming Soon. It features a bevy of new footage, especially the action-oriented kind and very well may pull you off the fence.  Check it out:

Lastly, we have a Disney featurette that highlights some of the characters and their interaction with John Carter, again showcasing a lot of new footage and scenes.  It’s got a slightly off-putting narration, but nothing like that f*cking Star Wars one.  Enjoy:

Here’s the official synopsis for the film, which may clarify things a bit:

From Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Andrew Stanton, “John Carter of Mars” is a sweeping action adventure set on the mysterious and exotic planet of Barsoom (Mars). Based on the classic sci-fi novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the film tells the story of John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), who is inexplicably transported to Mars where he becomes embroiled in a conflict of epic proportions amongst the inhabitants of the planet, including Tars Tarkas (Willem Dafoe) and the captivating Princess Dejah Thoris (Lynn Collins). In a world on the brink of collapse, Carter discovers that the survival of Barsoom and its people rests in his hands.

JOHN CARTER beats white, ape-like creatures over the head with rocks on March 9th, 2012 in 2D, 3D, and IMAX.
