New trailer for The Punisher unveils official release date

We have been speculating when the first season of THE PUNISHER would be dropping on Netflix, with everyone honing-in on a November release date within the last month or so. Now Netflix has finally announced a release date of November 17 (JUSTICE LEAGUE day) and has done so with a sweet new trailer for the series featuring plenty of blood, bullets and Metallica music. Starring Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle a.k.a. The Punisher, the first season of the show picks up after where we last saw Castle in season two of DAREDEVIL.

Here is the plot synopsis:

After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.

Many of you were probably scratching at your eyeballs while having to wait to hear when the series would drop on Netflix, and now you can leave your eyes alone and take a deep breath. The series now comes out on the same day as JUSTICE LEAGUE, and I'm sure there are some Marvel die-hards out there who would rather stay home and binge watch this than go to the theater. I wouldn't blame them because frankly, this show looks so unbelievably badass. Batman is cool too, but I have a feeling The Punisher could disembowel him like he was taking the stuffing out of a turkey. Keep that in mind when these movies drop the week before Thanksgiving.

THE PUNISHER hits Netflix November 17.
