1st trailer for Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens on Amazon Prime burns it all down

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

The first trailer for Amazon’s six-part series GOOD OMENS dropped today at New York Comic Con, and it looks downright delightful. Based on the bestselling book by Neil Gaiman, devoted fans were a bit skeptical when plans were first announced to create an adaptation of the beloved author’s work. However, upon further inspection, it appears that pairing David Tennant as the demon Crowley with Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale proved to be perfect casting, as it really provides the show with the comedic edge it needed to be a success.

The end is nigh, and this duo couldn’t be more tickled about it. Like a mashup of THE ODD COUPLE and CONSTANTINE, GOOD OMENS looks like it’s going to play up the buddy comedy aspect of the end of the world scenario with bits of supernatural activity sprinkled in. In other words, it’s very much my jam.

In the novel, Crowley and Aziraphale have been friends for thousands of years, so when news strikes that the end of the world is afoot, the pair do everything in their power to put a stop to it. Despite being polar opposite representations of good and evil on earth, these guys have always maintained a solid friendship, and even grown accustomed to their cozy lives in the mortal realm. They’re not just going to let some silly apocalypse get in the way of their good time. They're going to fight fire with gasoline.

GOOD OMENS stars David Tennant (DR. WHO, JESSICA JONES), Michael Sheen (FROST/NIXON, UNDERWORLD), Sam Taylor Buck, Ilan Galkoff, Simon Merrells, and Lourdes Faberes. The series is created by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and directed by Douglas Mackinnon (DR. WHO, SHERLOCK).

GOOD OMENS crash lands its way onto Amazon Prime in 2019.
