Nicholas Hoult will be killing giants for Bryan Singer

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It’s been one of the most sought after roles for young actors in Hollywood the past few months, but someone seems to have finally snagged the part. I’m not sure what’s so special about Bryan Singer’s JACK THE GIANT KILLER, but it is the must-have, non-superhero part of the year and Nicholas Hoult should be pleased he’s been extended the offer.

Think you recognize him? Well you do, as he’s the kid Hugh Grant mentored in ABOUT A BOY. But that was years ago, and he’s grown up in a 6’3″ 21 year old, who recently starred in the original UK version of Skins, which has recently been adapted into a shittier MTV show.

What’s all this about giant killing? Well, it’s not a metaphor as it’s literally a new take on the Jack and the Beanstalk tale. From Deadline:

“Scripted by Christopher McQuarrie, Mark Bomback and Darren Lemke, Jack the Giant Killer is a scary revisionist take on the Jack and the Beanstalk mythology and Hoult will play a farmer who leads an expedition into the giants’ kingdom to rescue a kidnapped princess. Bill Nighy, Stanley Tucci and John Kassir were recently cast.”

Again, not sure why this role has been buzzed about to this degree (is Singer that big of a draw these days?), but it’s a big break for the kid, and I’ll look forward to understanding more about this project in the future.
