Word on the street is that Disney is looking to get their actors locked for the next installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise quickly, and one name that's often been said is Orlando Bloom. Given what happens at the end of AT WORLD'S END, one might think that his role would be better left at the bottom of the ocean . . . which is exactly what Bloom thinks! Rumor so far states that the story would revolve around a young British soldier, not to mention the likes of Jack Sparrow and Barbosa, although Bloom suggests that the story might swing around to involve the Turner's once more.

Orlando Bloom on whether or not he'll return:

I’m not entirely sure [of] that just yet, but there are talks. Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son. I’m of course Davey Jones now, so I’m down the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I’m rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won’t look anything like me.

While I don't think it's critical to have Orlando Bloom return to the franchise in order to have a successful installment, I do feel that Disney needs to have characters that we can get behind and empathize with. Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush are fantastic in their respective roles, but they can't play the everyman. I'm certainly not opposed to more Pirates of the Caribbean installments, if only so that they have an opportunity to get it right. Here's hoping DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES finds the right balance.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES looks to arrive in theaters on July 7, 2017.
