Orphanage poster

The Orphanage The folks over at Cinematical have got themselves a first look at the brand-spanking new poster for the much buzzed about Spanish horror thriller THE ORPHANAGE. Produced by foul-mouthed cuddly bear Guillermo Del Toro and under director Juan Antonio Bayona, the film centers on a woman who decides to renovate the house she grew up in and turn into an orphanage. When her son starts seeing things that aren't visible to others, however, all kinds of spooky shit ensues. According to Cinematical, the poster as shown in theaters is lenticular, meaning the ghosts seen in the background fade in and out depending on your point of view. Which is pretty damn kick-ass. If Bayona continues to deliver like he seemingly does with this film, the current elite triumvirate of Latino filmmakers - Del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu - may just have to become a…quadrumvirate. The film opens December 28th in limited release. Check out the poster in all its bigness HERE.

Extra Tidbit: The film is Spain's Official Submission for Best Foreign Language Film for the 80th Annual Academy Awards next year.
