Jada Pinkett Smith is becoming the latest high-profile star to join the Netflix family. The actress is set to star in REDD ZONE, an upcoming drama that will be released by the streamer and produced by Westbrook Studios.

REDD ZONE is based on the true story of Tia Magee (played by Pinkett Smith in the film), a single mother who helps her sons and their high school football teammates, "The Bros", heal after the tragic murder of their best friend, Dominic Redd. Eventually, each one of the boys starts moving into her home, and soon, 17 of "The Bros" are living under her roof. The story is one of triumph as all of them go to college, and four make it to the NFL. Magee's very own son, Brandon Magee, became a linebacker for the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was later drafted by the Boston Red Sox to play outfield. Talk about a story that was meant to get the movie treatment.

Pinkett Smith, who recently worked on the upcoming THE MATRIX 4, will produce the film alongside Miguel Melendez and Jon Mone, Westbrook Studios co-president and head of motion pictures. They'll be joined in this endeavor by Emmy-nominee Howard Burkons and Brandon Magee will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

Jada Pinkett Smith currently co-hosts Facebook Watch's very popular series, Red Table Talk, alongside her moth, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, and her daughter, Willow Smith. She's also executive producing the biopic KING RICHARD, about the father of Venus and Serena Williams, starring her husband, Will Smith.

Does REDD ZONE sound like a film you'd check out on Netflix?
