Rian Johnson’s Knives Out gets even better as Jamie Lee Curtis joins up

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Hot off of the enormous success of HALLOWEEN, Jamie Lee Curtis has signed on to one of the hottest projects in town as Variety has reported that the actress has joined the cast of KNIVES OUT.

Set to be written and directed by Rian Johnson, KNIVES OUT will be a modern-day murder mystery starring Daniel Craig (SPECTRE) as the detective assigned to solve the crime. The star-studded cast also includes Lakeith Stanfield (SORRY TO BOTHER YOU) as another detective, as well as Michael Shannon (THE SHAPE OF WATER), Chris Evans (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR), Don Johnson (HBO's Watchemen), and Ana de Armas (BLADE RUNNER 2049) in undisclosed roles. In keeping with tradition, there are no details on Jamie Lee Curtis' role either. Production on KNIVES OUT is slated to begin in November. Rian Johnson has long been a fan of Agatha Christie and it's said that KNIVES OUT will be inspired by those classic whodunits. The director was also quite eager to work with Daniel Craig.

I have been a huge fan and always wanted to work with him and as I worked on the script, trying to get it right, Ram and I were wringing our hands over who could be the detective. Then, serendipitously, we heard Daniel might have a small window, and it worked out. He’s an actor of extraordinary range, and we are looking forward to the fun of finding that modern detective, and collaborating with Daniel on creating a new Poirot.

It's expected that KNIVES OUT will start shooting before the year is out as Daniel Craig has a free spot on his schedule thanks to BOND 25 having been pushed back. Jamie Lee Curtis can be seen in HALLOWEEN which is currently playing in theaters, so be sure to check out reviews from our own Chris Bumbray and JimmyO and let us know what you thought of the film as well!
