Rings moves from Halloween to Valentine’s Day; Friday the 13th pushed back

Last Updated on July 31, 2021

Ah, the month of February! Love is in the air, flowers are starting to bloom and chocolate flows in the rivers. It's the perfect time for romance, merrymaking and SCARING THE SHIT OUT OF YOUR LOVED ONES. Oh yeah, February, you got a new visitor coming your way.

Yes, Paramount has announced (via Variety) that the franchise reboot, RINGS, has just been pushed from the seemingly appropriate month of October to February 3, 2017. You know, so if you want your significant other to dump you before Valentine’s Day so you don’t have to buy them a gift you can just take them to see this movie (*mic drop*). This is the third time the movie has been moved, going from November 2015 to April 2016, from there to October 2016 and there to its current spot.

As well, the studio has announced that their other big horror reboot, FRIDAY THE 13TH, has also been moved from its January slot all the way to October 2017. Today is not a good day to be a demonic child or a machete-wielding killer.

There’s no real reason as to why the big move, but much of the speculation is around the fact that Paramount is looking to take big losses this year, thanks to expensive movies like TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLE 2 and BEN-HUR tanking at the box office. Now that RINGS and 13TH won't be coming out in the nearer future they won't have to put any money down for more promotion and such until next year

Now we only have one horror movie coming out next month, OUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL, which is basically like having nothing at all. Oh well, in these times I like to say they can use this time to make the movie better. As a fan of the THE RING I would love for RINGS to be good, and lord knows we could use a good FRIDAY THE 13TH movie. Although after watching that trailer for RINGS I feel like maybe only having seven days left on this planet wouldn't be a bad idea (*more depressing mic drop*).

RINGS is set to startle us on February 3, 2017.
