I may be at odds with some of you, and even a few of my fellow editors when I profess my extreme distaste for Rob Zombie horror, but I’ll be damned if I haven’t watched all of his movies to see what kind of crazy shit he comes up with next.
I’m glad he’s moving on from his rather awful HALLOWEEN remake series, and back into original territory with THE LORDS OF SALEM, the film “set in contemporary Salem, where the inhabitants receive a demonic visit from a 300-year old coven of witches.”
Zombie just tweeted this first official image from the film, and it shows presumably the get-up of one of the titular “Lords,” who is wearing a rather terrifying mask. It is hard to come up with new scary mask ideas in this day and age where seemingly most possibilities have been exhausted, but I do like the simplicity of it. Though I can’t shake the feeling that it looks like a hybrid between a Cactuar and a Minecraft Creeper.
