I heard that someone, somewhere was making a documentary about the life and rise to stardom of Robert Pattinson and the cult following he’s developed, but with the world-ending success of NEW MOON, it’s not something you’ll be seeing on E! at 3AM, it’s actually coming to theaters.

ROBSESSED (sigh) is being distributed by Revolver, and is currently being set up to be sold through iTunes like you might expect. However, the company now has plans to release the doc in North American theaters in the first quarter of 2010.

It’s hard to compare the reaction girls have to Pattinson to anyone other than Elvis or the Beatles. But while they were some of the greatest musicians who have ever lived, Pattinson is an “unproven” actor, if we’re being nice, with nothing to his credit except a guest spot in a good fantasy film and the lead role in two pretty awful ones, and I find the response to him to be nothing short of head-scratching. Is it him, or the character he’s playing that drives the ladies wild?

But teenage girls’ minds have always been notoriously hard to crack, and all studios can do is take this newfound obsession and run with it as far and as fast as they can, and I guess I can’t really blame them for that.
