Rock says Shazam!

After months and months of speculation, it’s a done deal – Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will star in SHAZAM. OK, it’s not quite a done deal but The Rock has at least figured out what part he’d like to play. After lobbying fans for who they’d like him to play in the movie, he revealed to MTV yesterday that he’s going for the villainous Black Adam. Says Rock to MTV: “I sayeth Black Adam as well…I love that. I love that [fans] were so vocal.” As I said before, it’s not quite a done deal as Rock stressed that director Peter Segal and writer John August are currently working together to mold the Black Adam character to The Rock’s sensibilities. I’m not sure what those sensibilities are but it may include arched eyebrows and a big, cheesy smile. I’ve long wanted Rock to jump into a role as a really devious villain (and I’m not talking DOOM) so hopefully this will give him a chance to play opposite the “good guy” persona he’s crafted in movies like THE GAME PLAN.
