Mark Ruffalo has stepped in to replace Daniel Craig in the upcoming suspense flick BLINDNESS for director Fernando Meirelles (THE CONSTANT GARDNER). Craig dropped out a few weeks back due to a scheduling conflict. Ruffalo will instead star as a doctor and husband to a women (Julianne Moore) who’s one of the few people not afflicted by an outbreak of blindness. The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Jose Saramago. Ruffalo has a number of projects on the way including RESERVATION ROAD and WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and he just recently wrapped filming on THE BROTHERS BLOOM with Rachel Weisz and Adrien Brody. Filming on BLINDNESS is expected to begin this summer in Brazil.
