Rufus Sewell joins Alex Proyas in Paradise Lost

Rufus Sewell is going to be working with DARK CITY director Alex Proyas once again, playing Sammael in the CROW director’s adaptation of PARADISE LOST.

The film is already set to star Bradley Cooper and Benjamin Walker as Lucifer and the Archangel Michael, respectively.

If you’ve somehow never read John Milton’s epic poem (what, didn’t you go to school?) it focuses on a battle in heaven. Of course, this one’s likely going to be in 3D and big and dumb and, y’know, “epic”.

Sewell’s Sammael will not be a good character- he’s the guy who sent the serpent to Eve to corrupt Adam- so it’ll certainly be fun to see the actor in the role.

Legendary Pictures’ Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are producing the film alongside Vincent Newman Entertainment. The script has gone through something like four or five drafts, with Ryan Condal delivering the most recent revision.

PARADISE LOST is aiming for a 2013 release. Sewell will next be seen playing a villain in Timur Bekmambetov’s ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER.
