Running Scared 1986 (Billy Crystal) – The Best Movie You Never Saw

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The eighties were the heyday of the buddy cop movie. The year before Lethal Weapon came out and make the genre even more popular, Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines were Chicago cops on the trail of a drug lord (played by Jimmy Smits) in Running Scared (1986) by director Peter Hyams (2010, Capricorn One, Timecop). While a solid box office hit (there was even talk of a sequel), in the decades that followed Running Scared would become somewhat obscure. That's too bad as it's a really good cop comedy/action flick, with some terrific set pieces, including an amazing chase along Chicago's EL tracks. And Billy Crystal as an action hero? Who knew? Join us on this week's The Best Movie You Never Saw as we dig into this underrated gem.
