Back in May of this year we showed you the strange teaser for Ryan Gosling’s first feature LOST RIVER; the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to mostly negative opinion. Have no fear though, if you were one of the many drawn in by the films bizarre story and puzzling trailer, you will finally get to see the finished project. Warner Bros. will give a limited U.S. theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles for LOST RIVER in April 2015 along with a day-and-date release on digital platforms.

The film stars Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes, Matt Smith, Saoirse Ronan and Iain De Caestecker. The script, written by Gosling, centers on a single mother swept into a dark fantasy underworld while her teenage son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.

Here is that said trailer:

Seriously, did you look at his muscles? While the movie certainly doesn’t look or sound like a wide release, meaning the studio at least think it’s not for everyone, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. There is no shame in skipping theaters to find your audience these days. Something like this just needs decent word of mouth and curiosity to do business, so it’s halfway there already. LOST RIVER immediately reminds me of the style of Harmony Korine with his dream-like visuals, unsettling environments and characters. Just like with every one of Korine’s movies, I look forward checking this one out

Will you try and see LOST RIVER?
