Ryan Reynolds says big changes are to be expected for Deadpool 3

Is it just me, or is it becoming increasingly difficult to believe that Ryan Reynolds isn't some sort of real life superhero? Case in point: On Sunday, Reynolds canceled surgery on his arm to fly to Beijing, China, so that he could join overseas fans for the unexpected theatrical release of DEADPOOL 2. For real, how many other actors do you know who would sacrifice their health and safety to celebrate with fans? Feel free to bring some examples to light in the comments section below, though for now, let's just revel in the opinion that Reynolds is the type of individual who goes above and beyond the call of duty for his dedicated fanbase.

Upon taking the stage at the event, Reynolds confirmed that, despite the looming Disney merger with Fox, development on DEADPOOL 3 is still very much a thing. As fans in the theater breathed a collective sigh of relief, the Canadian-born actor also informed those in attendance that the Merc with a Mouth's next sequel will take the character in a “completely different direction.” He then added that long-running film characters “reboot or change a character maybe like four movies too late.” What this means for Marvel's mouthy Merc in the red pajamas is anyone's guess, though it's to be expected that no matter what form Deadpool takes in the future, he'll remain the fourth-wall breaking badass that the world has come to know and love.

Not long after reassuring fans that the plan is to have Deadpool continue his adventures on the big screen, Reynolds confessed to the theater full of cinephiles that “It’s been a dream of mine for years to bring ‘Deadpool’ to China and Chinese audiences, so for me this is, uh, heaven on earth.” As you can image, the crowd erupted at the sound of Reynold's enthusiasm for importing the character for Chinese audiences.

Fun Fact: According to Variety, “Deadpool’s” Chinese fans have dubbed the character “Little Jianjian,” which Fox has loosely translated to “Little Bitchy Bitch,” no doubt a term of endearment for the foul-mouthed X-Men trainee. When asked to comment on the seemingly derogatory nickname (it isn't), Reynolds told Variety, “I feel like my wife gave that to me first, but I guess China can get the credit.”

If you ask me, it really doesn't matter if you call Deadpool "the greatest Marvel character ever" or "Little Bitchy Bitch," because Wade's gonna laugh his way to the bank once those Chinese totals start adding to DEADPOOL 2's already corpulent coffers.

DEADPOOL 2 is now available to watch via Digital and Blu-ray services. Unless you're in China, which means that it's finally time to get your ass to the theater for some good ol' fashioned R-rated comic book-related fun! Enjoy!
