See the two sides of Godzilla in this poster and close up look from the film

When it was announced that Gareth Edwards would take on helming duties for the GODZILLA reboot, I knew that we could potentially have something very special on our hands. The creature himself has many followers and devout fans that have been waiting on a great updated version. With everything that we’ve seen so far, I think it’s fair to assess that this is going to crush the hell out of the GODZILLA of 1998. Sorry Matthew Broderick.

A new poster for the film has hit and it’s probably my favorite yet. Now I have to quickly divert your attention away from the poster and on to this new close up image that is said to be from the next issue of Entertainment Weekly (via Bloody Disgusting). It’s a great shot, and I love that it looks like Godzilla is grinning. Yeah, he’s grinning because he just tore down most of the city and pissed on everyone below. Godzilla answers to no one.

Check both of them out below.

GODZILLA, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, and David Strathairn, stomps into theaters on May 16, 2014.
