Sharlto Copley is the next actor to be offered the role of the villain in Oldboy remake

This is quite an interesting choice.

I’m sure the overall feeling of the OLDBOY American remake from Spike Lee is still glum. Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen are set to star, but one thing is still missing–the villain.

Colin Firth and Clive Owen have both been asked to take on this role. Both actors dropped the project leaving Mandate Pictures on the hunt to find someone else. Recently, the role was offered to DISTRICT 9’s Sharlto Copley.

Copley is in early talks to play the role of, “a mysterious billionaire out to destroy the protag’s life, while Olsen will play a caseworker who helps Brolin’s character investigate the past. “ While I do like Copley, this is a rather odd decision. I’m interested in seeing what he brings to the table if he signs on.

But honestly, I’m way more interested in Copley’s reteam with Neil Blomkamp for ELYSIUM.
