Showtime splits up seasons of Black Monday & Billions due to COVID-19

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Showtime is making some last minute changes to upcoming seasons of some of its biggest shows. The upcoming fifth season of Billions and the upcoming second season of Black Monday will be split into two parts due to production halting on the shows over the coronavirus pandemic.

Billions will return as scheduled on Sunday, May 3, but fans will only be able to enjoy the first seven episodes, as the remaining episodes will now air later this year. The same goes for Black Monday, which will air six episodes before going on hiatus, with the final four episodes of the season slated for later this year. Showtime assures fans that the both shows will reach their respective hiatus points at a natural point in the story arcs of their seasons.

Billions, starring Paul Giamatti & Damian Lewis, follows U.S. attorney Chuck Rhoades (Giamatti) as he goes after hedge fund king Bobby "Ax" Axelrod (Lewis) in a battle between that has these tow powerful New York figures going head to head. Black Monday, starring Don Cheadle, Regina Hall, Andrew Rannells & Paul Scheer, follows a group of outsiders that take on the 1980s old-boys club of Wall Street.

Showtime is making other schedule changes as well. The network is movie up the season 3 premiere of The Chi, which will now arrive on Sunday, June 21. The entire third season will air without interruption, which is also the case for Penny Dreadful: City of Angels, which begins airing on April 26. Showtime also is in the midst of airing the final season of Homeland as well.

I know the stories of production delays due to COVID-19 seem redundant but it also gives you info, at least in the case of television schedules, what will be around while we wait this all out and for how long. Not bad having a guide to what to expect on the small screen which, despite the delays, seems to be coming in hot with a few series that are worthy of our time.

Are YOU looking forward to new season of Billions & Black Monday?
