Simon Kinberg is set to pen the sequel to X-Men: First Class

Not to be outdone by the news of a RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES sequel, Fox decides to top that announcement with another one. Simon Kinberg (JUMPER, SHERLOCK HOLMES) has been hired to write the sequel to X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.

You knew there was going to be a sequel but as for who was going to write, we didn’t know that. Other details? None. We can only hope that Matthew Vaughn returns to direct. It would also be nice to get back Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy.

So where do the X-Men go from here? Do they buy a shop and set up a bakery? No. Do they dress up as beer maids in order to manipulate the enemy? No. Does Cable finally make an appearance in an X-Men movie? Doubtful but it would be really cool. I wish I had more info for you, but I don’t.

I’m sure some more announcements for the sequel will come soon enough. What are your hopes for the second installment?
