Sissy Spacek & Jane Levy join Stephen King and J.J. Abrams' Castle Rock

Sissy Spacek Jane Levy Stephen King Castle Rock

The works of Stephen King have filled the world with countless tales of terror and memorable stories, some of which even cross over in a variety of different ways, including taking place in or mentioning the fictional Maine town of Castle Rock. That location will be the setting of a new anthology horror series titled Castle Rock brought to us by J.J. Abrams and Stephen King himself. According to the producers, the upcoming series will combine "the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland." Casting for the ten-episode first season of the Hulu series is underway, and the latest to join up are Jane Levy (EVIL DEAD) and Sissy Spacek (CARRIE).

Already attached to the series is André Holland (American Horror Story: Roanoke), who is set to play Henry, a death row attorney with a unique and complicated history in Castle Rock. Sissy Spacek will play Henry's mother, Ruth Deaver, a retired professor whose fading memories might hold a key to Castle Rock's unsettling past. As for Jane Levy, she will play Jackie, the death-obsessed self-appointed historian of Castle Rock. Still a little too early to pass judgement on the series or discover just how they plan on weaving together King's stories, but consider me intrigued enough to check it out.

Billed as a "first-of-its-kind reimagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories," the upcoming series will "weave together characters and themes from those novels that use the Castle Rock location." Each season of Castle Rock is expected to follow a different set of characters and story-lines, all while "interjecting themes and specific characters from previous seasons."
