Stan & Ollie trailer finds Coogan & Reilly transforming into the iconic duo

When looking back on the history of show business it’s difficult to imagine a greater duo that Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy, an act that made the world a better place to live in – much like peanut butter and jelly. Now the story of their final days as a team is being given the big screen treatment in STAN & OLLIE with Steve Coogan playing Laurel and John C. Reilly playing Hardy. The first trailer finds the duo coming together for one last tour across England, putting their friendship, health and sanity to the test. Hey, that's show business!

The biopic about the two icons looks like a sweet, funny, possibly heartbreaking tale about showbiz and a legendary friendship, and you can never really have enough of those. The big takeaway is the work of Coogan and Reilly, who look brilliant in the roles, especially Reilly, who dons a fat suit and looks unrecognizable as Hardy. The film will have its premiere on October 21 at the BFI Film Fest in London, where it could break out into the award circuit for an end-of-the-year release.

Directed by Jon S. Baird (FILTH) and written by Jeff Pope (PHILOMENA), the movie also stars Danny Huston as Hal Roach, Shirley Henderson as Lucille Hardy and Nina Arianda as Ida Kitaeva Laurel.
