Stanton talks Mars

Andrew Stanton showed up at the Los Angeles Critics award dinner the other night to accept the Best Picture award for WALL-E (and rightfully deserved). While there he spoke briefly with SciFi about the status of his next movie JOHN CARTER OF MARS. In that interview he reveals the following:

- The movie will NOT be animated but will obviously feature a great deal of CGI. "There are so many creatures and characters that half of it's going to be CG whether you want it to be or not."

- He's already begun talking to actors to star in the film.

- The movie will NOT be a Pixar production but will instead be set up at Disney. Explains Stanton, "Pixar's a brand that you have to trust that's for all ages and this story is not going to be an all-ages film."

The movie isn't set for release until 2012 so it's surprising that Stanton is getting to work so early (especially with casting). He also mentions that he'll keep the movie at a modest two hour length. You can read the full interview over at SciFi Wire.
