Sterling K. Brown is a powerhouse in compelling trailer for Waves

Director Trey Edward Shults landed on the film world’s radar after his eerily captivating 2017 movie IT COMES AT NIGHT, and this year’s he’s back with a very different follow-up feature – WAVES. Distributor A24 has released the first trailer for the filmmaker’s new drama starring Sterling K. Brown (BLACK PANTHER), Kelvin Harrison Jr. (IT COMES AT NIGHT, LUCE). and more, and while he aimed to chill your spine with his last movie, he now aims to pierce your soul with what looks like an incredible drama about a family learning to come back together after a tragedy.

With Lucas Hedges (BOY ERASED), Taylor Russell (ESCAPE ROOM), Alexa Demie (HBO’s EUPHORIA and Renee Elise Goldsberry (ALTERED CARBON) rounding out the impeccable ensemble, the movie premiered at Telluride recently to universal acclaim. While not many reviews are up, the ones out there are championing Shults as one of the top young filmmakers today, with words like “masterpiece” and comparisons to MOONLIGHT being thrown around.  So, yeah, maybe keep an eye out for this one.

The trailer does a damn good job of setting this up as a must-see drama of the fall, Starting off with the perfect accompaniment of Frank Ocean's "Godspeed," the trailer takes things to a heavily emotional area by showcasing the fantastic work of the cast, especially that of Brown as the patriarch of the family.
