Steve Carell is a widower again in Dogs of Babel

While I do enjoy Steve Carell in a comedic role, I’d like to see more of his softer side. Ever since DAN IN REAL LIFE, I’ve been left with DATE NIGHT, GET SMART, and various episodes of THE OFFICE. Until CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE comes out, I’m still left waiting.

Good thing is another dramatic film is on Carell’s horizon. The actor is attached to star in DOGS OF BABEL for Mandate Pictures. The film is adapted from Carolyn Parkhurst’s novel of the same name about, “Paul Iverson, a linguistics professor, who returns home one day to find his wife dead in their backyard. Police rule her death an accident, but Paul is not quite sure. The only witness to her death is their dog Lorelei. In Paul’s grief-stricken search for answers, he endeavors to teach Lorelei to talk in the hopes that he can uncover what happened the day his wife died.” Another role where Carell plays a widower. I have no issues with this, he did it well in DAN IN REAL LIFE.

Writer Jamie Linden (WE ARE MARSHALL) has penned the adaptation and the studio is about to start searching for a director.

Anyone down for this?
