Mark Ruffalo and Amy Adams have dropped out of GREENBURG, the upcoming comedy drama from writer/director Noah Baumbach (THE SQUID AND THE WHALE). Ben Stiller has signed on to replace Ruffalo while Baumbach is in talks with a number of actresses to replace Adams. Not much is known about the film other than it will be center on “the intimacies of relationships.” Ruffalo was expected to depart after the tragic death of his brother Scott. It’s unclear exactly why Adams left the project (had she stayed it would’ve marked the second straight film in which she co-starred with Stiller after NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2). At the same time they recast the film producer Scott Rudin is shopping the project to a number of indie studios with Focus Features looking to be the frontrunner to finance and distribute. Stiller would begin work on GREENBURN after he wraps the upcoming untitled Cameron Crowe film with Reese Witherspoon. The actor’s also considering stepping back behind the camera for the DreamWorks drama THE TRIALS OF THE CHICAGO 7.
