Suicide Squad Rumor: Jackie Earle Haley being considered to play The Thinker

Suicide Squad Jackie Earle Haley

Latino-Review's El Mayimbe is at it again with his SUICIDE SQUAD scoops, this time claiming he's heard Jackie Earle Haley (WATCHMEN, ROBOCOP) is being eyed to play The Thinker in the David Ayer film. While even he says to take this with a grain of salt, it's possible that The Thinker could still appear in the movie with a different actor playing the character.

There have been three supervillains in the DC comics who have used the name The Thinker (or just Thinker), but the film version will likely be based on Clifford "Cliff" Carmichael, who became a "cyberpunk maniac with meta-human powers" after inserting microchip versions of the Thinking Cap (a device capable of telekinesis and mind control) into his brain.

With at least part of SUICIDE SQUAD rumored to be set in Arkham Asylum there will likely be a bunch of baddies running around, and I'm down with a few of the lesser known supervillains from the comics appearing in the movie. I'm not going to try to tell you The Thinker is one of my favorite characters, but I'm pretty pumped that Jackie Earle Haley might be playing the villain, even if it is a small role.

Jackie Earle Haley is currently doing post-production work on his directorial debut CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES starring John Travolta and Michael Pitt, and SUICIDE SQUAD will be in theaters on August 5, 2016.
