T’Challa & Killmonger face off in new Black Panther image

In a few days, 2017 will be over, and we will be looking onward to the movies of 2018. The year should be another great one for Marvel, who are kicking things off with the solo outing, BLACK PANTHER, which is one of the most anticipated movies of the year. The movie will find Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa/Black Panther facing off against Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Killmonger, and you can see the two staring each other down in a new image.

The new pic comes courtesy of Empire, which will be seen in the latest edition of the magazine previewing the many movies of 2018. The image is merely a tease for some epic fighting the two will be doing, as evidenced by the trailers where Killmonger can be seen in a special suit of his very own.

Take a look!

For those interested in grabbing the magazine you can take a look at the very purple cover below (as well as the awesome subscriber’s cover below that), which also features a fantastic, detailed look at Panther’s vibranium suit and all the little designs across the whole thing. Iron Man’s duds are starting to look a little retro, amiright?

Jordan spoke about playing Killmonger to Empire, and he said playing the character actually took him to a pretty dark place:

It took me to a dark place. Honestly, I can’t really go through all I went through to get into it because I want to keep that close to me. But it stuck with me afterwards.

Marvel often has problems giving us compelling villains, and I hope that’s not the case here. The relationship between Killmonger and T’Challa seems very complex and dynamic, and they seem to get a ton of screen time together to play all of that out. Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaue is also there, but he’s probably more of a side villain. That's what happens when you lose an arm. You get demoted on the villain scale.

BLACK PANTHER hits theaters February 16, 2018.
