Taylor Kitsch is pretty sure he won’t be coming back as Gambit for The Wolverine

Will Gambit make a cameo for THE WOLVERINE? I think that answer is pretty obvious. Did he make a “cameo” in the comic series written by Frank Miller and Chris Claremont? Not that I’m aware of. So why even ask? I have no idea but it’s not uncommon for characters to pop up in storylines where they don’t belong.

When Taylor Kitsch spoke with MTV, he already knew that Gambit would not make an appearance in Wolverine’s Japanese adventure, “That’s up to Hugh, if he wanted it. We’ll see. I don’t think I’m in it, I haven’t heard anything. I got my plate full, man. I’m pretty happy where I’m at.”

Then the actor said something that made me extremely happy. When asked about a possible Gambit spin-off, Kitsch responded, “I know if we do it, it’ll probably be down the road and we’ll do it hopefully a lot darker. I’d love to play him again, but it’s a matter of doing it right, too. There’s no point in just doing it for the sake of doing it.” It was the last part that made me smile, “there’s no point in doing it for the sake of doing it”. Damn straight. I could care less about all that “darker” bullshit. That word is applied to every comic to movie property lately.

To take it a step further, I was not anywhere near impressed by Kitsch’s Gambit. If they ever, for any reason decide to bring back Gambit, they should get Michael Raymond-James and call it a day.
