For those that loved the last incarnation of those loveable muppets, your wait for a sequel is almost over as MUPPETS MOST WANTED is gearing up for release next year and today we have our first look at the teaser trailer, as well as four new images from the pic. With an all star cast of humans and muppets, the next iteration looks to be a bit more like the old muppet films, like THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER (my childhood favorite), complete with colorful villains and an international plot. All in a day’s work for those furry fellas.

Here’s the synopsis:

While on a grand world tour, the Muppets find themselves wrapped into an European jewel-heist caper headed by a Kermit lookalike and his dastardly sidekick.

Looks pretty fun so far. I’m not as big into the Muppets as I was as a child, but I’m happy to see these guys back on the big screen again to usher in a whole new generation of fans, while appeasing the “kid” that’s left in all of us. Director James Bobbin is back for this second go round after helming 2011’s THE MUPPETS and he looks to be in keeping with the same spirit as the last, so hopefully we’ll have another solid entry in the talking puppet genre to look back fondly on.

MUPPETS MOST WANTED, starring Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Christoph Waltz, Ray Liotta, Tom Hiddleston, Ty Burrell, Frank Langella, Danny Trejo, Ross Lynch, Debbie Ryan, and a whole lot of fuzzy muppets hits theaters on March 21, 2014.
