The 2011 Lionsgate Preview!

And last but not least (unless Fox provides us with info
on their 2011 slate), LIONSGATE is previewing its movies for the
coming year and not much about it excites me personally, other than CONAN
THE BARBARIAN, of course. Actually that’s not entirely true. ABDUCTION,
starring that kid from the TWILIGHT movies is directed by John Singleton
and co-stars Alfred Molina, Maria Bello and Sigourney Weaver, so you never
know about that one, I suppose.

It’s to note that this is the first time in 7 years that
there is no SAW movie scheduled for Lionsgate, although they seem to have
replaced it with another horror movie (produced by Sam Raimi) starring
Kyra Sedgwick, to be released around the same time. Uh-huh. As for the
poster for Tyler Perry’s latest paying "homage" to THE
GODFATHER, one can only close their eyes and bristle. PS: It’s great to
see Mathew McConaughey in a suit again!

You can check out the whole Lionsgate roster below (with links to all the other 2011 studio
previews as well) and as per usual, click on any of the pics for
more info on the film, or check out the entire list of 2011
UPCOMING MOVIES

Mickey Haller (Matthew McConaughey) is a Los Angeles criminal defense attorney who operates out of the back of his Lincoln sedan. But the seemingly straightforward case suddenly develops into a deadly game of survival for Haller.

MADEA’S
BIG HAPPY FAMILY
(April 22)

Madea, everyone’s favorite wise-cracking, take-no-prisoners grandma, jumps into action when her niece, Shirley, receives distressing news about her health. All Shirley wants is to gather her three adult children around her and share the news as a family. But Tammy, Kimberly and Byron are too distracted by their own problems: Tammy can’t manage her unruly children or her broken marriage; Kimberly is gripped with anger and takes it out on her husband; and Byron, after spending two years in jail, is under pressure to deal drugs again. It’s up to Madea, with the help of the equally rambunctious Aunt Bam, to gather the clan together and make things right the only way she knows how: with a lot of tough love, laughter…and the revelation of a long-buried family secret.

THE MONEY

of fast cash she latches on to his biggest case – a local cop wanted for
murder who just happens to be the guy that broke her heart in high school.
Stephanie gets resourceful and tough, as she is swept up in a suspenseful
world of murder, deceit, with a bit of romance.

An ex-Marine haunted by a tragic past, Tommy Riordan returns to his hometown of Pittsburgh and enlists his father, a recovered alcoholic and his former coach, to train him for an MMA tournament awarding the biggest purse in the history of the sport. As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan, a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father.
But when Brendan’s unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a collision course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.
