The BAFTA nominations are as expected as Meryl Streep’s Golden Globe win

BAFTAlogo

BAFTA, the British Academy for Film and Television Arts, has released a list of nominees in advance of its February 12th awards ceremony. Nothing all too surprising here, with plenty of love being shown for THE ARTIST, HUGO, and TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY. Though DRIVE received nominations for both Best Film and Best Director, which is pretty damn cool considering how it has been more or less ignored by awards organizations thus far.

I have two questions upon seeing this list, however: 1) Where is Rooney Mara, and 2) with THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN being nominated for both Best Animated Feature Film and Special Visual Effects, where do we draw the line between the two? Do we even need to?
