The cast of O Brother, Where Art Thou? reuniting at Nashville Film Festival

After escaping prison, robbing a bank with George "Baby Face" Nelson, battling a cyclops, exposing the KKK, and being paid $10 each to sing into a can, the men who make up the Soggy Bottom Boys band are coming back!

The Nashville Film Festival has announced that for the 20th anniversary of O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? they'll be hosting an online reunion with key members of the cast, plus special musical performances from figures who appeared on the soundtrack and others. For the celebration of sound and song, George Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, and Chris Thomas King will perform as the Soggy Bottom Boys, likely to deliver unto the people a rendition of their classic dustbowl jam "Man of Constant Sorrow".

Also expected to attend and contribute to the event's musical performances are Dan Tyminski of Alison Krauss & Union Station, who provided Clooney’s “Soggy Bottom Boys” singing voice on “I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow” and other songs in the film, and two representatives of the Carter Family whose early 20th century sound was repopularized by the film, Carlene Carter and her daughter Tiffany Anastasia Lowe. Kathleen Edwards and the Dead South will offer songs as part of the tribute as well. (per Variety)

While the event is free to Nashville Film Festival pass holders, others looking to attend will have to purchase tickets for $12 at nashvillefilmfestival.org. The virtual festival will take place on October 1-7.

The spotlight on Joel and Ethan Coen's O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? will also hold a special interview with Thomas King as well as a look back on the making of the film, including how the classic comedy helped foster a surge of interest in the folk, bluegrass, and Americana musical styles.

If you've yet to experience O BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? what are you waiting for? The film takes place in the deep south during the 1930s and focuses on three escaped convicts in search of hidden treasure while a relentless lawman pursues them. The comedic tale is loosely based on Homer's epic Greek poem The Odyssey, with many of its characters and themes reimagined for one of the Coen brothers' best films to date.
