Farrelly Brothers

I’m going to make a confession now, and I understand that more than a few of you may not be amused in the least (so to speak) – I have never found The Farrelly Brothers funny, except for when I was 11 and we watched OSMOSIS JONES in Biology class. In fact, I did not even crack a single smile when watching THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY.

But because of my eternal fascination with the mythology of The Devil I can’t help but be at least somewhat interested in their latest acquisition, an original script by one Dan Ewen entitled DEAR SATAN.  Or maybe it’s because the only other Farrelly movie I marginally liked (OSMOSIS JONES) was also written by someone other than the Farrelly Brothers.  Or maybe it’s a bit of both.

Ewan is one of those guys who currently has a bunch of different projects in various stages of development, but the story that the Farrelly Brothers are now set to direct “follows a 7-year-old girl who accidentally misspells “Santa” and instead invites Satan to bring her a toy for Christmas. The inspiration for the script came from the writer’s babysitting experience when a child in his care switched a couple of letters in Santa’s name on his yearly note to the North Pole.  ‘There was this cute little card, covered in candy canes and glitter,’ Ewen said. ‘I fell in love with the idea of this note mistakenly being delivered to the Prince of Darkness and the fiery wackiness that would ensue.'”

So for you Farrelly fans out there – what say you of this next flick?
